Insight on Tyrion Lannister
Tyrion is the third and youngest son of Lord Tywin and Lady Joanna Lannister. He is a dwarf. Because of his unusual stature Tyrion has been a victim of mockery his entire life, with people overlooking his noble birth in order to tease and taunt him. He has also suffered physical indignities in a world not built for someone his size.
Tyrion’s mother died giving birth to him and his father and older sister Cersei have despised him all his life as a result. He has always maintained a close relationship with his elder brother Ser Jaime Lannister, Cersei’s twin. Often underestimated because of his size Tyrion is actually one of the smartest, craftiest members of his family and wishes he was taken more seriously as an advisor. He is easily the kindest, understanding better than others those that have suffered hardship in their lives. He longs for true companionship and love since both have been withheld from him most of his life.
Because of the Lannister’s wealth, Tyrion is also quite lazy and debauched given to drowning his familial woes in drinking and whores but is never truly satisfied. Although the women he lays with often seem to come away satisfied themselves and not just with their payment.
We all remember Tyrion’s 3 minute speech against his father which made him win the Grammy. All these factors suit properly for this character to be introduced in Bollywood.
It is known that Shah Rukh Khan is playing a dwarf in Aanand L Rai’s untitled film. Comparisons were instantly drawn with Kamal Haasan in Appu Raja. But it seems we have been barking up the wrong tree. Apparently, Shah Rukh’s character is inspired by that of Tyrion Lannister played by Peter Dinklage in Game Of Thrones.
